Lagardère Travel Retail has been awarded a 10-year contract to manage shops at the new Sénégal Blaise Diagne International airport (AIBD) that will officially open on December 7. AIBD will be managed by the Operating Company, a consortium composed of Summa, Limak and AIBD S.A. (Senegalese government).
The retailer will operate duty-free shops covering a total of 1,000 sq m, offering perfumes and cosmetics, confectionery, tobacco, liquor, accessories and electronics. It will also run a 100sq m Relay Store focusing on press, books, snacks and souvenirs.
In 2016, the existing Leopold Sedar Senghor international airport, welcomed close to two million passengers.
In a joint-statement welcoming the retailer, Operating Company boards members, Hakan Oztürk, (Limak) and Haydar Ergun (Summa) said: “With a worldwide company, highly experienced in duty-free and with ambitious objectives, we want to offer our passengers a wide and varied offer. We are very happy to welcome Lagardère in Dakar.”
