Annual DFS whiskey festival gets underway at Changi

The luxury travel retailer DFS Group has announced the opening of the third edition of its award-winning Whiskey Festival at Singapore Changi Airport.

Commencing today, and running until 17 June, the festival celebrates some of the world’s finest whiskies and provides travellers with “a platform to expand their whiskey knowledge and immerse themselves in some of the classics,” DFS said.

Festival activities will take place at The Whiskey House, located in DFS’ stores in terminal two and terminal four at the Singapore airport.

The special promotion gives travellers the opportunity to taste more than 100 of the world’s best whiskies, including rare and limited-edition items, a number of which are exclusively supplied to DFS.

Each weekend, a line-up of interactive masterclasses will be staged, featuring brand ambassadors guiding guests through an interactive tasting of hand-picked whiskies.

For the festival, DFS’ extensive collection of whiskies have been grouped into four categories – Classics, Discoveries, Specialities and Rare Finds – to help guide customers through their selection process.

DFS Group Managing Director of Singapore and Indonesia Wilcy Wong said: “DFS Singapore, Changi Airport is home to the largest assortment of single malt whiskies in Southeast Asia, so we feel education is important. The Whiskey Festival offers guests an opportunity to really understand our brands, their craftsmanship and their heritage.”

Changi Airport Group Senior Vice President for Airside Concessions Teo Chew Hoon added: “The exquisite whiskey tastings and calendar of activities will craft one-of-a-kind experiences for travellers as they journey through Changi Airport.”

As part of The Whiskey Festival promotion, customers who purchase any whiskey item from DFS stores or iShopChangi (www.iShopChangi.com) will get the chance to win a trip to Scottish distilleries, worth SG$8,000 (US$5957).
