The Nuance Group has announced the appointment of Derek Larsen as CEO of The Nuance Group (Australia), starting from September 16. Larsen has over 20 years’ experience in the duty-free and airport retail industry and has most recently worked as Sydney Airport Corp Ltd (SACL) general manager retail.
Larsen will replace Jann Fisch, who will step down as CEO at the end of the year following a four-year commitment to “supporting and growing Nuance’s Australian business”, according to the retailer. Fisch will continue to serve the company as a board member after stepping down to guarantee continuity in its operations.
The Nuance Group president and CEO Roberto Graziani said: “I look forward to welcoming Derek, and am confident that his strong industry knowledge and understanding of the domestic market dynamics will prove invaluable to our Australian operations going forward.
“I would also like to thank Jann for the contribution he has made to our Australian business over the past four years, which has included significant development of our retail offering in this market,” added Graziani.
Nuance runs the duty-free stores at Sydney International and Melbourne International airports, as well as airport stores at Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra and Perth.
