Heinemann opens new Bologna duty-free store

Travel retailer Gebr Heinemann has opened its enlarged store at Bologna International airport’s Schengen area. The 650sq m store is five-and-a-half times larger than the previous outlet at the location and carries the Heinemann Duty Free fascia.

The new shop offers a larger selection of fragrances, cosmetics, spirits, confectionery and accessory from international brands to travellers, as well as a new Regionals Market concept area offering local specialities including Parmesan cheese, salami, limoncello, wines and Italian confectionery.

A second duty-free shop in the non-Schengen area of the airport is currently undergoing renovation and is set to open in the middle of the year. That outlet will cover 360sq m, four-and-a-half times larger than before the conversion. The two new Heinemann Duty Free stores incorporate a walk-through layout.

Heinemann has operated duty-free shops at Bologna since March 2011 in partnership with Italian subsidiary Travel Retail Italiana. The official opening will be celebrated in early May, according to the retailer.
