By popular demand the futuristic video first shown at the Global Travel Retail Summit in June is now available online using the latest Windows MediaPlayer 7 technology.

In a thought-provoking 12 minute movie, Duty-Free News International and Travel Retailer International editors, Dermot Davitt and Adele Wolstenhulme present the industry news as it might appear in the year 2020.

Here are some of the headlines as they may appear 19 years from now: "It's official! China is now the world's biggest duty-free market of them all...department store Macy's strengthen its grip on US travel retailing...how newly privatised Aer Rianta plans to celebrate 75 years of travel-retail by honouring some of the industry names of the past. And booming Shanghai  is now the world's largest duty-free location, just ahead of last year's leader Dubai, making China Power the world's number two travel-retailer. Older viewers might recall the days when DFNI was a print magazine, and the threat to duty-free tobacco was just that...a threat.....

The same technology is to be used in future for the hosting of corporate videos and duty-free store walk-around views.

  • To view the video, click on the feature box and follow the instructions to download MediaPlayer from the Microsoft website.
