Zeinal Hermanos reports strong year to June

27-Sep-2004

The operator grew turnover in the first six months of the year and expects new opportunities to bolster results in the second half

Uruguayan retailer Zeinal Hermanos has reported a 56% increase in turnover for the first half of 2004. The company said that fragrances and cosmetics had grown strongly in the six months, and that confectionery sales had increased by over 60% compared with the same period last year.

CEO Walter Zeinal Jnr told DFNI that he anticipated further growth in the next six months. "Later in the year a new ferry will be coming into service, and this will give us additional retail opportunities," he said. "If everything goes to plan it will be in operation before the high season and should guarantee further sales growth in the last quarter and the first few months of 2005."

Chairman Walter Zeinal Snr was recently awarded the ASUTIL 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award for services to the Latin American industry. The award was presented at the ASUTIL conference held last month in Salvador, Brazil. See DFNI October 15 for a full conference report.
