World Health Assembly adopts tobacco text

The World Health Assembly has adopted the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control unanimously and without change, according to campaigners attending the Geneva meeting

Although the clause suggesting that countries restrict duty-free tobacco sales was not mentioned in the negotiations, taxation measures to increase the price of tobacco were discussed, suggesting that the World Health Organisation still hopes to reduce the supply of cheap tobacco.
