World Duty Free wins top Global Travel Retail Award

The UK retailer was among companies commended for their achievements in travel-retail in the inaugural Global Travel Retail Awards

World Duty Free has scooped top prize at the inaugural Global Travel Retail Awards, presented in London on the evening of February 3. The UK travel-retail accepted the award of Travel Retailer of the Year at the Raven Fox Ball, held during the Global Travel Retail Summit.

The awards, presented by Raven Fox, recognise excellence in travel-retail, are decided by a vote open to any company operating in travel-retail, and were announced at the Ball, which was attended by over 300 guests and raised money for the Beslan children, the Alpha Sri Lanka Tsunami Appeal and the John Blower Trust.

Shortlisted: Dubai Duty Free, the Nuance Group

Cruise/Ferry Travel Retailer of the Year: Silja Line
Shortlisted: Harding Brothers, Stena Line

Inflight Travel Retailer of the Year: British Airways
Shortlisted: Britannia Airways, My Travel Airways Northern Europe

Best New Shop Opening: Kievrianta (Kyiv Boryspil Airport)
Shortlisted: ATU Turizm (Istanbul Ataturk airport), James Richardson (Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport), The Nuance Group (Copenhagen Kastrup airport), The Nuance Group (Zurich airport)

Best New Product Launch (since January 2004): Pure Poison (Christian Dior)
Shortlisted: Eternity Moment (Calvin Klein), Provocative Woman (Elizabeth Arden)

Airport Travel Retailer of the Year: Dubai Duty Free
Shortlisted: Nuance-Watson (Hong Kong), DFS Singapore

Airport Authority with the Most Supportive Approach to Travel-Retail:  BAA
Shortlisted: Civil Aviation Authority Singapore, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation
