World Duty Free helps BAA revenues grow

Overall retail income for the airports group up 4.5% to £493m ($1.02bn)

UK airports group BAA has announced that its revenues have risen 2.7% to £1.98bn ($4.1bn) in the nine months to September compared with the same period in 2006. Income from retail across its UK airports was up 4.5% to £493m ($1.02bn) while sales per passenger grew 3% to £4.30 ($8.90).

 

World Duty Free net retail income in the period registered a 9.2% increase to £122m ($252.6m). Turnover from airside specialist shops rose by 7.1% to £54m ($111.7m) and income from landside stores and bookshops was up 0.2% to £37m ($76.5m).

 

Internationally, retail income at Naples Capodichino airport was up 19.5% to £8m ($16.5m) in the nine months to September. Turnover at Budapest Ferihegy airport was down 50.7% to £5m ($10.3m), but the figures only refer to five months of operation as BAA sold its interest in the airport in mid-2007.
