Dan Curran has taken the newly-created role at the travel retailer
World Duty Free (WDF) has appointed Dan Curran as head of supply chain. The newly-created role highlights the importance of supply chain management to WDF and it is the first time it forms a separate function outside buying.
Curran brings over 15 years of retail experience to WDF, having worked for some of the best-known UK high street chains including Carphone Warehouse. He has accumulated a broad range of skills working in positions from finance and retail to operations and purchasing, and he has developed core skills in supply chain and logistics management.
As head of supply chain Curran will develop a strategy that connects the supplier to the shop floor. This will involve the stock management of more than 18,000 skus from over 225 suppliers across 65 stores. The skus are worth £25m ($51m).
Curran said: I hope to develop a supply chain that will deliver retail best practice with a team of experts who are all proud to work for World Duty Free.
Managing director Mark Riches commented: The decision to separate supply chain from buying will see World Duty Free go from strength to strength, particularly as we are fortunate to have such an experienced supply chain expert as Dan at the helm.
