The next meeting of the networking group for women in travel-retail and duty-free will take place on February 23
Networking group Women in Travel (WiT) has announced its next meeting, to take place during the International Association of Airport Duty Free Shops’ (IAADFS) Duty-Free Show of the Americas in Orlando. The event will be a breakfast meeting starting at 7.15am on February 23 and is open to all women working in the duty-free and travel-retail industry. The specific location, a room donated by IAADFS executive director Michael Payne, will be announced at a later date.
Travel Markets Insider editor Lois Pasternak and Imagination Unlimited International (IUI) president Beverly Walker Johansson will host the meeting, which has been described as a casual gathering that will conclude before the opening of the tradeshow at 8.30am.
The event will also host a luxury-goods raffle, with proceeds to be donated to Haitian relief. Sale from the tickets, which are priced at $10 each, will benefit OneVillagePlanet.org and be used to invest in ambient water condensers provided by the Island Sky Company, which filter potable water out of the air and will be an enduring solution to an ever-present need. American Airlines has donated the air freight to transport the equipment but the organisation is still in need of the solar or wind-powered generators to run them.
Raffle prizes already confirmed include a bottle of 18yo Bodegas 1492 Rum in a crystal decanter hand- made from the famous house of Moser in the Czech Republic, worth several thousand dollars and donated by American Caribbean Gateway, and a full range of 3Lab products provided by Virginie Cordero of Sunny Touch.
A light breakfast will be served at the meeting and the organisers are still looking for raffle prizes. To RSVP or donate to the raffle, please contact Bev Johansson at Bev@IUIbrands.com.
