Construction of a new terminal building at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International airport is set to begin in the next few weeks

Winnipeg International airport is to begin developing its new terminal in the next few weeks. The airport expects to finalise plans for retail and catering space in the next few months and will launch a tender for the space by the end of the year.

Airport spokesperson Christine Alongi told RavenFox.com: “We are not able to reveal the size of the retail area yet as the RFPs for food and beverage, retail development and advertising and sponsorship opportunities are yet to be finalised, but will be completed by the end of 2007.”

The existing terminal will be taken out of service. Alongi said: “What happens with the old terminal is yet to be determined.  We did issue an expression of interest to the community and are awaiting to see if there are sustainable uses.  Failing that, it will be demolished and the area used as opportunity presents itself.”
