The airport authority has issued a request for proposals for retail concessions at its new terminal where it plans to double the retail space

As reported on Ravenfox.com on October 26, Winnipeg Airports Authority has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for new retail space at Winnepeg James Armstrong Richardson International airport.

The RFP includes more than 25 stores and restaurants covering about 22,000sq ft (2,044sq m) at the new terminal building, doubling the current space. About 70% of concessions will be located post-security and 30% pre-security.

Winnipeg Airports Authority president & CEO Barry Rempel said: "The goal of the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International airport concessions programme is to enhance quality and value for our travellers. They will not only be greeted with a spacious and modern new facility, but with the types of food and gifts that reflect the spirit of Winnipeg and Manitoba."

Concessions will be selected to present the best mix of local and national concepts to nearly 5m users of the airport. Construction of the new terminal is under way and it is scheduled to open in 2010.

Submissions will be accepted until February 28, with contracts being awarded by June. Copies of the RFP are available for download at www.waa.ca.
