2-Apr-2003

Weitnauer has opened its latest shop in the refurbished terminal at Marrakech Menara airport

The new 310sq m (3,335sq ft) offers a wide range of branded duty-free goods. It complements Weitnauer's other activities in this region, which also take in Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Ghana.

Weitnauer chief operating officer Western Europe & Africa Antoine d'Oiron said: "We are very proud of being present in Morocco which represents a strategic country for the group. Thanks to the response of [Moroccan airport authority] ONDA and their continuous and professional support we have been able to create this duty-free in a few months and build our own warehouse at Marrakech Menara airport."

D'Oiron added: "We want to be recognized as the travel-retail specialist on the African continent. For us it is of the outmost importance to prove to the various civil aviation authorities that we will bring the professionalism and the expertise to their countries they require for their airports. Marrakech will pave the way for further developments in the region."
