Weitnauer Distribution has reported strong first-half results, attributing its success to improved customer service and cost reductions. The company, which split from the Weitnauer Group of Companies (now Dufry Group) in November 2002, told TRW that it had also benefited from new representations and by streamlining its portfolio of products since the move, with particularly strong results reported in Europe, South Africa and the US.

A Weitnauer Distribution spokesperson told TRW: ?We have overcome the many challenges that were put in front of us when the separation was announced. Our main emphasis now is to build our client base in central and southern Europe, the Balkans and Africa as well as central and south America.? She anticipated good full-year results, and was upbeat about prospects for 2004.

Weitnauer Distribution ceo Andre Rush controls the group, which employs 120 staff through its headquarters in Basle and affiliate companies in the US, Paraguay, South Africa, Slovenia, Croatia and Bulgaria.
