After more than 40 years with Swiss-operator Weitnauer Group, deputy ceo and leading duty-free industry figure Max Oriet is resigning from his executive functions with effect from January 31.

Rene Riedi has been appointed as a new member of the Group Executive Committee. He is the chief operating officer of the recently-created Global Agencies business unit, which handles the distribution mandates in the tobacco sector which are not part of the recently-announced MBO transaction.

Weitnauer chairman and ceo Fritz Kohli said: "The knowledge and relationships of Max Oriet in the duty-free markets have been a tremendous asset to Weitnauer. His name cannot be separated from the success of Weitnauer over the last decades." Oriet has been nominated as a non executive director of Weitnauer Holding.
