Warehouse initiative signals growth for Nuance-Watson (HK)
The travel retailer's new warehouse will help to accommodate its growth at Hong Kong International Airport
Nuance-Watson (HK) has opened a new warehouse to accommodate the growth in demand at its 42 outlets at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The facility, which opened this month, also signalled the company's commitment to retail at HKIA in the lead up to the next concessions tender in 2008 and follows a major investment in a new POS system.
The new 58,930sq ft (5,476sq m) unit offers 20% more floor space than the previous two-storey warehouse, which had an insufficient "inventory capacity" that was difficult to optimise for the company's rapid expansion. Nuance-Watson (HK) plans to increase the productivity of its labour force by 10% at the new warehouse and handle an extra 3m units of stock annually.
Nuance-Watson (HK) managing director Alessandra Piovesana said: "Our new warehouse design and location provide not only a solution to the pure logistics issues but place Nuance-Watson (HK) in a position of strength to support future growth and contribute a solid logistics platform to operate in a fast changing and competitive Hong Kong International Airport environment. Our Nuance-Watson (HK) and logistics provider teams made this move possible through their tied cooperation and determination."
