WHSmith renews Manchester contract

10-Jan-2003

UK news and gifts retailer WHSmith will operate at Manchester airport for a further seven years with effect from January 2003

The renewed contract extends the operator's 32-year presence at the airport, where it will run nine outlets at airside, landside and arrivals locations.

Over the next three years WHSmith will take part in the refurbishment programme underway at all three of Manchester's terminals, and WHSmith Travel managing director Alex Smith said the predicted 40% rise in passenger numbers over the next seven years makes Manchester a key location for the retailer.
