WHSmith appoints travel-retail business director

Finbarr Casey has joined the news and books specialist as business development director of its travel-retail division

UK news and book retailer WHSmith has appointed Finbarr Casey as business development director of travel-retail. He joined the division on February 1.

Casey has over 10 years' experience in the travel-retail sector and joined WHSmith from specialist food and beverage operator Select Service Partner (SSP), where he held a number of senior operational roles including general manager at Manchester airport. In his most recent position as international business development manager he helped shape SSP's approach to business tenders and negotiations and supported its developing businesses across Europe and Asia/Pacific.

WHSmith Travel-Retail chief operating officer David White said: "WHSmith Travel-Retail is a growth business and this appointment supports our development plans for the next few years. I am delighted that Fin is joining us at this exciting stage in our development. He will play a key role in defining our expansion strategy and I am sure he will add considerable momentum to our growth."

Casey commented: "I am looking forward to joining WHSmith Travel-Retail at a time when there are real growth opportunities. I am excited at the prospect of working in a business that operates in what must be one of the most unique trading environments."
