WHO workshop to be held in Cannes
A special workshop on the World Health Organization's (WHO) threat to abolish duty-free tobacco sales is being held at the TFWA World Exhibition on Tuesday, October 23. The event will be held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, Auditorium One, Level 4 at 9.30am. Duty-Free News International managing director Martin Moodie and The Duty Free Business managing editor Doug Newhouse will jointly moderate the workshop.
International Travel Retail Confederation (ITRC) director general Keith Spinks and the International Association of Airport Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) lobbyist Jon Kent will make presentations and highlight how the trade can assist in efforts to preserve the business.
All tobacco companies and retailers are urged to attend. Suppliers from other categories are also certain to be affected by any abolition of tobacco sales and are invited to participate. TFWA is supporting the workshop and the Association ceo Andrew Ford said: "We believe it is vital for all categories to be concerned with this issue as tobacco products are such a draw for customers into duty-free shops."
