WH Smith wins Hong Kong tender

8-May-2003

WH Smith has won all ten stores split across two concessions in the Hong Kong International Airport tender for airside and landside news and bookstores

The announcement of the result was delayed by two weeks due to airport authority meeting schedules.

"It's a fantastic result for us and a real vindication of our sales performance," said WH Smith managing director Asia/Pacific James Webber. "But obviously the impact of the SARS virus is watering down the celebrations at the moment."

The news and bookstores concession was bid in two parts and includes airside and landside airport outlets. Previously the contracts were held by local company House and WH Smith.

WH Smith's Asia/Pacific airport operations include locations in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
