WH Smith launches Scratch & Go insurance card

9-Aug-2002

WH Smith Travel Retail and insurance company Insure & Go teamed up recently to give travellers a last minute deal on travel insurance with an innovative new package

Insure & Go has come up with a ground-breaking travel insurance package in the form of a range of Scratch & Go cards, that provide travellers with cover in minutes. The cards, which can be purchased from over 40 WH Smith airport stores in the UK, are instantly activated by scratching off the card's panel to reveal a validation code. Passengers then contact Insure & Go to complete the activation by telephone, Internet or with a WAP phone.

Insure & Go managing director James Richardson commented: "Over a third of overseas holidaymakers travel without insurance every year. The travel insurance option available through WH Smith stores leaves travellers free to fly with the peace of mind that they have a comprehensive insurance package."

The Scratch & Go cards have proved so successful that WH Smith is planning to offer them from their outlets at major train stations which travellers use as points of departure.
