The retailer has teamed up with UK charity One water to help provide clean water in African communities
World Duty Free (WDF) has teamed up with UK-based charity One water to offer reusable Bags for Life from WDF outlets.
Sales of the bags—which will be available in WDF stores at London Heathrow terminals three and five and London Stansted for a limited period—will help improve the lives of those in Africa who do not have clean water supplies. The bags are made in Sri Lanka form jute, which is a fast-growing recyclable textile, and provide further evidence of WDF’s commitment towards reducing the number of carrier bags used in the store.
Previous collaborations between WDF and the charity include the recent campaign which saw sales of One water fund 19 PlayPumps, providing a number of African villages with clean water.
WDF and Alpha Retail CEO Mark Riches said: “We are delighted to be working with the charity again and hope that our customers will support this cause and consider the environment by purchasing and reusing a Bag for Life.”
One water spokesman Ed Warner added: “The success of the bags will be influenced by the fashionable status that recyclable bags have been given. We are delighted to be working with WDF on this project and intend to extend our Bag for Life offer across all WDF stores in the next few months.”
