Ron Anderson and Mark Riches in front of the light installationWorld Duty Free (WDF) and Diageo have joined forces to open a new cocktail bar at London Heathrow airport terminal five. Located airside at the T5 hub, the bar features an elliptical light installation composed of nearly 300 fibre optic tubes and an interactive display that turns the bar into a mosaic of colour.

The bar’s menu will contain specially-developed cocktails made from Diageo brands, and bar staff will offer advice to passengers on what to drink before flying.

WDF managing director Mark Riches said: “With just two months to go before T5 opens, the final touches to our stores are being put in place. Diageo’s cocktail bar and the stunning chandelier, which has just been installed, are further examples of how these new stores are going to look, sound and feel completely different.”

Diageo global travel and Middle East managing director Ron Anderson added: “This cocktail bar epitomises Diageo’s vision of the future of travel-retail, centred around amazing experiences for shoppers and travellers. It responds directly to passengers’ desire for great times and great experiences in an amazing setting.”
