Vinci sells ASUR stake

But the French group remains committed to the Mexican airport industry with a stake in another local operator

French construction firm Vinci has relinquished its stake in Mexican airport authority ASUR by selling its 24.5% holding in Inversiones y Tecnicas Aeroportuarias (ITA). But the company reported that it would look to enhance its portfolio of medium-sized airports in France and abroad.

The move follows Vinci's merger with Groupe GTM in December 2000, which gave the group a 37.5% share in Servicios de Tecnologia Aeroportuario (SETA), which in turn owns 15% of another Mexican airport authority Grupo Aeroportuario CentroNorte.

Vinci, which ranks itself as the world's third largest provider of airport services in terms of passenger and cargo volumes, was required to sell its share in ASUR as Mexican law forbids companies from participating in more than one airport group. According to Vinci, a Mexican investor acquired the stake in ITA, which owns 15% of ASUR, for Eu30m ($36.6m).
