The much-anticipated tender for retail and food and beverage space at the Skylink terminal at Vienna International airport has been issued

The Flughafen Wien (Vienna Airport) Group plans to appoint retail and food and beverage tenants at the Skylink terminal by the end of the year and has now begun the tender process. Flughafen Wien AG has commissioned AT Kearney management consultants to manage this procedure.

Flughafen Wien AG member of the management board Christian Domany said: “Our strategy is to achieve a substantial increase in gastronomy and shopping space in the non-aviation segment, and the completion of the Skylink terminal in 2009 will allow us to meet this goal.”

The new areas, which feature about 10,000sq m (107,600sq ft) of food and beverage and retail space, will extend over three levels. This will expand the shopping and food and beverage facilities at Vienna to 19,700sq m (211,972sq ft), or 76% more than is now available. A total of 52 areas will be offered, representing 33 retail and 19 food and beverage zones. The future users of the facilities will include passengers and visitors as well as the 16,000 staff who work at the airport site.

The concept and design of the Skylink terminal will set an “international benchmark for comfort and diversity”, according to Flughafen Wien. The retail and food and beverage concepts will include “Austria’s best“ as well as international and luxury products. An important objective of Vienna airport is to also guarantee a comprehensive and broad range of products and services at fair prices.
