The Malaysian retailer has been awarded the 764sq m (8,220sq ft) multi-brand fashion concession, beating Changi principal tenants DFS Group and Nuance-Watson (Singapore)

Malaysian airport retailer and luxury goods distributor Valiram Group has fended off competition from Singapore Changi airport’s dominant retailers DFS Group and Nuance-Watson (Singapore) to win the multi-brand fashion concession at terminal two, ousting incumbent DFS from the 764sq m (8,220sq ft) outlet.

Valiram, which will begin the three-year contract on January 1 2007, is already present at Changi, where it operates Bally and Mercedes-Benz boutiques. On the domestic market it also holds the Jimmy Choo franchise. In Malaysia the retailer operates the majority of airside retail space at Kuala Lumpur International airport’s domestic terminal and several boutiques at the international satellite terminal. It also holds franchises for Bally, Montblanc, Coach and Dunhill on the Malaysian domestic market.

The new contract cements Valiram’s position as a multi-locational airport retailer and is likely to be a key step in its plans for further international expansion. DFS Group holds the liquor and tobacco concession at Changi T1 and T2 and recently won the concession to operate several high-end fashion boutiques at T2.
