ASUTIL secretary-general Enrique Urioste is the surprise replacement as ceo at IOSC, replacing Nick Hillyard who is joining Hellenic Duty Free as retail director.

IOSC is a powerful force in South America where it is the major supplier of international goods to Argentina's leading duty-free retailer InterBaires.

Urioste is much respected for his work heading the South American duty-free association ASUTIL and represents a suitably high-calibre appointment for the key IOSC role. He is well-acquainted with the South American retail and supply trade and with the issues facing the business.

Urioste will continue to oversee the ASUTIL post until a replacement is named. "It's a great honour and a great challenge to be joining IOSC," he told travelretailworld.com

"I'll be learning a lot from the very talented team at IOSC, many of whom are already great friends."

Hillyard said: "I'm sad to be leaving IOSC but very excited by the calibre of my replacement. Enrique is well-respected in ASUTIL and very well-known to 90% of our suppliers. He brings an expertise in logistics and with international companies. His knowledge in the field of law and his keen intellect will make him a major asset."

Urioste will be meeting IOSC suppliers this week together with Hillyard.
