UK design company wins Milan station retail project

3-Jul-2002

Design consultancy JHP has been appointed by Italian railway company Centostazione for the commercial masterplanning and concept design of Milano Garibaldi station

Centostazione, formerly Mediastazione, includes Venice airport company SAVE in its ownership consortium. It is Italy's second largest rail station operator after the Benetton-backed Grandi Stazione.

JHP's brief includes identifying circulation and flow patterns for all station users, establishing a long-term commercial strategy and design direction for the station and identifying the optimum retail and catering mix. Milan Garibaldi is located in the north of the city and handles regional and commuter services.

JHP said the work is in progress with initial design proposals scheduled to be ready by the end of August. The company won the project as a direct commission.
