Currency exchange firm Travelex's Australian business has joined relief efforts for survivors of the Indian Ocean earthquake, donating A$1m ($757,743) to the World Cricket Tsunami Appeal. Travelex Australia will be an event partner at the fundraising cricket match between the star-studded International Cricket Council World XI and the Asian Cricket Council XI, organised by Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and Melbourne Cricket Club on behalf of the ICC, the ACC and the Federation of Cricketers' Associations.
Travelex chairman and CEO Lloyd Dorfman said: "No-one could fail to be moved by the plight of the many thousands of Tsunami victims, and we felt it was important for us to help in some way. This event particularly appealed to us as it brings together the top players from many different cricket-playing nations around the world in an unprecedented gesture of support and solidarity."
The match, to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground today, will raise funds for the World Vision Tsunami Relief Fund.
