Transimpex steps up distribution strategy

The Bulgarian retailer is awarded supply contracts with two airlines and predicts more deals will follow

Bulgarian duty-free operator Transimpex has signed exclusive supply contracts with the national flag carrier Bulgarian Air and charter airline Balkan Holidays Air as part of its strategy to grow its distribution business. Both contracts are for two years and cover fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco and confectionery.

Balkan Holidays Air has already enjoyed successful sales, according to Transimpex director Vlad Gitsoaika and the concession onboard Bulgarian Air will begin in November. "More airlines are expected to sign similar contracts with the company, which is the fastest developing in the duty-free sector with an expected turnover for 2004 of more than Eu35m ($44.3m)," said Gitsoaika.
