Tommy Hilfiger Corp has announced it will open a string of new stores in the next few months. About 35 are planned by March 2002, but the company said it had not confirmed plans for travel-retail, despite its strength in the fragrances sector.

The New York fashion company operates 105 boutiques in the US. It is considering tripling its 11 speciality stores to more than 35. This month the company also completed the $200m acquisition of its European licence holder TH International, the company which distributes Tommy Hilfiger apparel to all sales channels in Europe and the Middle East.
