The Estonian ferry operator invests in new high-performance vessels

Tallink has signed a contract with Aker Yards in Finland, builders of Color Line's latest vessel Color Fantasy and Tallink's Romantika and Victoria, for a fast passenger ferry. The new ship is due to be delivered in spring 2007, with the contract including an option for another similar vessel. Tallink plans to put the new ship on the Helsinki-Tallinn route, with a crossing time of one hour and 50 minutes. It has capacity for 1,900 passengers.

The operator has also signed an agreement with Italian ship builders Fincantieri for a high-performance ferry, with an option for a second vessel. The ship will carry up to 2,000 passengers and will have 200 cabins.
