Tallink continues investment drive

17-Oct-2002

Estonian ferry operator Tallink has commissioned a new superferry to serve its Tallinn-Stockholm route

The new vessel will feature a similar design to the recently launched Romantika, and will come into service in April 2004. The project will cost the operator ?150m ($147m).

The new ferry (pictured) will be able to hold 2,500 passengers, with 763 cabins available. State-of-the-art bars and restaurants are to be included, along with extensive retail facilities. There will be conference facilities for up to 400 delegates, with a main conference room seating 250 passengers.

A spokesperson for Tallink said the company was determined to develop the potential of its Tallink-Stockholm service. It has recently completed the renovation of its catering and retail facilities onboard the Regina Baltica (TRW 11/06/02). "Tallink sees great potential in traffic between Sweden and Estonia and wishes to play a significant part in developing tourism and transport of goods between the two countries in the future."
