TRW statement on US tragedy

Statement from Padraic Fallon, chairman of Raven Fox parent company Euromoney Institutional Investor:

On behalf of us all here in London, I am sending a message of sympathy to our colleagues in New York who have seen their city attacked this week, and who have lost friends in the dreadful tragedy at the World Trade Centre.

We have been incredibly lucky. All our people in New York are safe.  There were some very bad moments during the afternoon of September 11 when some were still missing, but they turned up without a scratch. We know that is not the case with other companies, and we send our deepest sympathies to the relatives of the people who died in this savage attack on those whose only crime was that they went to work that day.

But the trauma of the attack is still with our colleagues, and that will not leave them easily. I wish us all here to show solidarity with them all, and to do everything we can to help them back to a normal life.

This attack was an attack on us all, because it was an attack on the people who work in international markets. It was an attack on innocent civilians who, regardless of their race or creed or colour, were killed while at their peaceful, everyday work. It was an attack on the very brave rescue and relief services in New York, many of whom gave their lives. It could as easily have been us in London, or our colleagues in Hong Kong, or Paris, or Tokyo, or Boston, or Miami, or Houston; so be on your guard. Be vigilant, for they may strike again.

We owe it to those who died to defy these attackers, these nameless ones who seek to destroy people, the businesses they work for, and the economy of every nation. We will defy them by doing all that we can to carry on as close to normalilty as is possible, and by urging friends and customers everywhere to do the same. We mourn the deaths of all those who died, and we will not allow, in any small way we can, the people who attacked them to enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the markets we serve and work in to come to a halt. We will fly to visit our customers, we will enter the buildings where they work, we will refuse to allow ourselves to be beaten in any way, and we will encourage all our friends in the markets we serve to do the same. I hope and believe I have your total support in this. That is the message I send from you all here in London to our colleagues in New York. God bless them.
