Travel Retail Training is to add a new skills module to its inflight training scheme

Travel Retail Training (TRT) plans to add a new element to its training programme. The company's inflight sales training scheme, which can be individually tailored to each airline, will now include an Emotional Intelligence course.

TRT co-owner Christine Martin explained: “No matter how many rules there are about inflight selling and how much commission cabin crew can earn, if they don’t want to sell they will find ways to get out of it. Emotional Intelligence is about finding ways to help cabin crew to overcome this, use their internal strengths and identify patterns and triggers to make inflight sales successful.”

TRT owners Christine and Ray Martin have both completed the Emotional Intelligence course and will incorporate their newly acquired skills in next year’s Inflight Sales Person of the Year (ISPY) training scheme as well as in individual training programmes for airlines that the company runs throughout the year.

See DFNI February 15 for an in-depth report on this year’s ISPY training, conference and awards.
