TFWA unveils GATE ONE programme

14-Feb-2005

The privatisation of aviation infrastructure, the effect of low-cost carriers on airports’ commercial operations and the growth of the Chinese and Indian travel markets will dominate the agenda at this year's event

The Tax Free World Association and Airports Council International have announced the programme for the second GATE ONE conference, to be held at the Singapore Suntec Centre on May 19-20. Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation managing director Peter Harbison will launch the debate by talking about the region’s aviation market and the effect the privatisation of airports and airlines will have on its future.

Aviation industry experts will make presentations on the implications of airport privatisation; the liberalisation of airline market access; the impact of low-cost carriers on retailing; and the development of other revenue streams such as catering and advertising. The programme will also include an analysis of the Chinese and Indian travel markets.

“Delegates at the inaugural event were very enthusiastic about the concept and content of GATE ONE,” said TFWA CEO Andrew Ford. “We acted on their suggestions for improvement  and have altered the timing so that people can attend both GATE ONE and TFWA Asia Pacific this year. We intend to take the various strands of the commercial revenue debate forward this year and we look forward to a vigorous and stimulating discussion.”

Online registration for the event will be available from March 22 at www.gateone-conference.com.
