TFWA appoints vice president Asia Pacific
The Tax Free World Association announced today the appointment of Richard Ferne of Brown Forman Beverages Worldwide as vice president TFWA Asia Pacific with immediate effect.
Elected unanimously by the TFWA management committee at its meeting on 5 April, Ferne's appointment will last until October 2002 when all members of the TFWA management committee and board are required to stand for re-election.
The appointment follows the departure of Dan Cappell from Nestlé. Cappell served as vice president Asia Pacific since 2000 and during his tenure was instrumental in the development of the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition with the added benefit of his experience in the confectionery sector.
TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen commented, "The board is immensely grateful to Dan for the support and valuable contribution he has given to the Association. We will miss his wisdom, his humour and his sound common sense. We wish him well in his new role.
"We are delighted to welcome in his place someone of Richard's experience in both the Asia Pacific region and as a long time member of TFWA's sub-committee responsible for Asia Pacific. This experience will be crucial as the appointment comes at a time when the Association expects to announce major developments to this event."
The Association also welcomed Ian Harrison who has been appointed by Nestlé to take its seat on the TFWA management committee.
