TFWA and ITRC plan closer cooperation
The International Travel Retail Confederation (ITRC) has announced a closer working relationship with Tax Free World Association (TFWA), to cooperate on industry issues.
The first step of this commitment is a joint letter of understanding which sets out the respective responsibilities of the two organisations. It also highlights several points for co-operating to promote and advance the travel-retail industry.
ITRC chairman Alain Falque, said: "This is a major step for both
the industry and the ITRC. It is very exciting. The prospect of
entering into agreement with such an eminent body as TFWA to share
joint platforms underlines the growing stature of the Confederation
since its formal launch less than a year ago. This understanding
signifies that both organisations recognise there are many
challenges ahead for the travel-retail and duty-free industry both
in Europe and internationally over the coming years.
TFWA ceo Andrew Ford said: "Agreeing to co-ordinate the promotion
and development of this unique industry through our respective
channels will bring nothing but benefits for all concerned. I look
forward very much to working more closely with the ITRC team on
future issues of mutual interest."
ITRC and TFWA aim to sign the agreement formally early in April.
