Dubai International airport's terminal three has opened to passengers with 10,000sq m (107,600sq ft) of additional retail space

Dubai Duty Free has unveiled its retail operation today as Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai international Airport began operations. To mark the occasion, the airport retailer offered the first passengers in Terminal 3 a chance to avail of a 10% discount on a wide range of products.

Commenting on the opening day, Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free said: “The new Emirates Terminal 3 is absolutely stunning and we wanted to mark the day by offering a one-off discount to the first passengers. A great deal of hard work has gone into making this day come to fruition and I would like to thank all of those involved with ensuring that the duty free operation is up and running and looking fantastic.

“On behalf of Dubai Duty Free I would also like to congratulate H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports on this historic day,” he added.

The new Dubai Duty Free operation in Emirates Terminal 3 covers over 8,000 square metres to include Departures, Arrivals and landside shops. The additional retail area is a welcome addition to the award-winning duty free operations in Terminals 1 and 2 which cover a total of 7,000 square metres.

In preparation for the opening of the new Terminal, Dubai Duty Free’s staffing levels have increased to 3,500. The operation recently opened its new Head Office in Ramoul which is located beside the 27,000 square metre, semi-automated Distribution Centre, which will become the centralised warehouse and distribution centre for the duty free operations Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
