Sydney tenders T1 jewellery stores

Sydney International airport is calling for proposals for two new jewellery sites in the soon to be redeveloped international terminal one. The requests for proposals (RFPs) are the first in several categories that will be brought to the market by the airport over the next few months. 

The two jewellery concepts now being sought are for opal jewellery and casual artisan jewellery. Other categories to be released soon include luxury fashion, lifestyle, food and beverage, fashion accessories and sport, with fast food and luxury fashion due for release later this week.

Sydney T1 handled more than 10m passengers in 2007. The airport is now undergoing a $500m redevelopment to be completed in 2010. T1 will offer an expanded, shopping complex with more than 140 stores.

Senior leasing executive Mark Zaouk said: “The release of the RFPs provides an extraordinary opportunity for retailers to participate in the next exciting phase of the airport’s retail evolution.”

The airport is also developing a new shopping website – sydneyairportshopping.com.au – to provide retailers with further opportunities to promote their products and upcoming promotions.
