The airport reports that an "exciting and professional" field of retailers have submitted bids for its duty-free concession

Sydney Airport Corp has expressed its satisfaction with bids received for its duty-free retail concession. The submission deadline for bids passed on Wednesday April 19, and general manager retail and commercial development Bob McFadyen told DFNI Asia he was confident the airport would find the "world's best duty-free operator" to take on the contract.

"We are very excited about the tender and we have attracted a comprehensive and professional field of bidders," said McFadyen. The airport declined to name bidders or to specify whether any had submitted alternative bids alongside the required structured proposals.

McFadyen added that most of the companies which attended a briefing on the tender at Sydney airport last month had submitted bids. He said that the commercial team aims to present its recommendation to the airport board in June, and the final decision could be made by the end of June.
