Sydney airport rewards its top retailers
Sydney Airports Corp (SACL) has announced its annual Retailer of the Year Award winners at a presentation held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal
Airport Retailer of the Year at Sydney was the Purely Australian Clothing Company. The airport said: "This company has been successful at meeting not only its own business objectives, but also market demands, and has exceeded customer expectations for value, quality and service." The criteria for the main award combines trading performance, visual merchandising and customer service. The awards, now in their eighth year, are based on monthly analysis of each retail business including trading performance, passenger spend rates and feedback from the mystery shopper programme.
The individual award for best visual merchandising went to Done Art & Design, while the Outstanding Geographic store was rewarded for Outstanding Customer Service.
SACL head of retail Bob McFadyen said: "In a year when the international tourism market has encountered major turmoil we have worked closely with our retailers to collectively focus on the aspects of our business we could positively influence. They not only successfully met those challenges but rose above them to achieve exceptional results. I am proud to say that we are able to continue to provide a global benchmark in airport retail that offers something for everyone."
Other retailers who were recognised include Santos Café, Perri Aspland, Australian Woodwork Gallery and Souvenir World.
