The airport has called for expressions of interest from retailers to fill a “prominent” site in terminal one

Sydney International airport has issued a call for expressions of interest from Australian and international retailers to fill a “prominent” space in terminal one. The terminal is currently undergoing works as part of a A$500m ($470.8m) development plan which will create an additional 7,300sq m (78,576sq ft) of floor space in the departures area of T1, of which 2,300sq m (24,756sq ft) will be new retail space. According to the airport, the revamped retail area at T1 will feature over 140 stores with an offer ranging from global brands such as Ralph Lauren and Fendi to a mix of local franchises.

The airport has also launched a new shopping website to coincide with the redevelopment, which it claims will “provide retailers with a unique portal to capture the attention of this vast, diverse travelling public” and another opportunity to promote their products and promotions.

Companies interested in applying for the lifestyle space have until June 30 to send their submissions together with supporting credentials. Tender can be submitted via the Sydney airport website.
