Confectionery distribution agreement prompts fresh investment in Scandinavia

Swiss Delice and A&E Petersen have signed a long-term agreement for the Nordic travel-retail market beginning on May 1 2005.

A&E Petersen managing director Dan Kongsted said: "We are very happy to be able to bring added value to the retailers in our region and to the Swiss Delice brand. We see huge potential for quality products like these, with prices at the right level and without domestic competition. In line with the findings of Nordic market research conducted earlier this year, products like these are exactly what retailers and consumers are asking for."

Kongsted said there was potential to build strong brands exclusively for the travel-retail channel in the region. He said: "We did this with a number of unknown domestic brands like Bassett, Van Slooten and Fazermint and we definitely see the potential to build [on this] success with support from the retailers."

Aed Adwan, responsible for the travel-retail market for Swiss Delice, said Scandinavia remains a strategically important market. "We know from our current success that our products are very well received by our consumers. We are looking to build on our success with our new partnership with A&E Petersen, a partner we believe will deliver a service which equals the high quality of our product".
