UK-based airport media company AirportTV is the latest company to pledge its support to the Global Travel Retail Summit 2005, to be held on February 2-4 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London. The company joins Cadbury Schweppes as a Gold Sponsor of the event, which is attracting increasing numbers of bookings as time runs out for "early bird" registration.
The Summit is titled The $50bn Travel-Retail Business: Impossible Dream or Future Reality, and will address how the industry can double global sales through maximising the opportunities for growth. Delegates reserving their place before December 10 will receive a 20% discount on the booking fee for the event, which includes the Raven Fox Ball and the new Global Travel Retail Awards.
Bookings are flooding in for the event, and among those companies to have reserved their place are ATU Turizm, Cathay Pacific Airways, Eastline (Domodedovo Airport), Frankfurt Hahn airport, Hong Kong Airport Authority, Kappé Schiphol, Nuance Watson (HK), Pernod Ricard Travel Retail, Schiphol Group, The Nuance Group and the Valiram Group.
The latest speakers to confirm their participation at the Summit are European Travel Retail Council president Frank O'Connell and Sydney Airport general manager retail and commercial development Bob McFadyen. O'Connell will address how the travel-retail industry can better prepare for the future by learning the lessons of the past, while McFadyen will join Hong Kong International Airport commercial director Hans Bakker in discussing how Asia/Pacific airports are meeting the challenge to grow commercial revenues.
Other confirmed speakers at the Summit include Dubai Duty Free managing director Colm McLoughlin, Dufry Group CEO Julián Díaz, Alpha Airports Group CEO Kevin Abbott, BAA managing director UK airport retail Colin Hargrave, Aldeasa international business development director Julio Lopez Castaño, The Nuance Group CEO Europe Carlo Bernasconi and Israel Airports Authority director commercial and properties Yoram Shapira. A supplier panel featuring Chivas Brothers chairman and CEO Christian Porta, Swatch Group head of travel-retail international Christophe Savioz and Parfums Christian Dior international director travel retailing André de Bausset will discuss the brands' vision of the future.
