Tight security measures at Canadian airports have led to a number of duty-free stores closures at Toronto Pearson airport

Strict security rules in Canada, which ban liquids and gels in hand luggage on all domestic, US and international flights, have triggered a number of store closures at Toronto Pearson airport where The Nuance Group holds the duty-free retail concession. The Canadian Government has confirmed that enhanced security measures will continue at Canadian airports until further notice, following a foiled terrorism plot in the UK.

In a statement, Toronto Pearson airport said: "Some duty-free stores have chosen to close due to the restrictions directed by the government of Canada. At least one duty-free store remains open in each section of each terminal." It is believed five stores remain open at Toronto.

RavenFox.com understands that business has dropped by over 70% since the new regulations restricting passengers from bringing liquids such as liquor and fragrances on to planes were introduced.
