Strasbourg invites bids for duty-free concession

18-Oct-2002

**EXCLUSIVE** Strasbourg Chamber of Commerce has launched a tender for the duty-free concession at the city's airport, concerning 100sq m (1,076sq ft) of retail space

The current contract, held by French operator Aeroboutique [now part of the Aelia Group], expires next January and the airport authority has set a closing date for bids of November 4.

Strasbourg airport commercial development manager Thomas Lelievre told TRW there was scope to extend the space covered by the concession. "We have about 100sq m of airside space available, catering for all traffic, but we also have the opportunity to create 20sq m to 30sq m (215sq ft to 323sq ft) of extra space in the Schengen area.

"We are expecting bids for all traditional duty-free products, including liquor and wines, tobacco, fragrances and some fashion and accessories. We are open to all proposals," said Lelievre.

The contract will run for five years, beginning on February 1 2003.
