A giant leap from tradition as TFWA signs up ex-astronaut Neil Armstrong as keynote speaker

Tax Free World Association has announced the speaker line-up for this year’s TFWA World Exhibition Conference, to be held in Cannes on Monday October 22. The keynote speaker—an honour traditionally reserved for retired political heavyweights—is famous ex-astronaut and first man on the moon Neil Armstrong.

Armstrong will provide his personal views on the possible way forward for the aviation industry in his themed talk: ‘Life begins at 60: A Starry Future?’. He will assess progress in aviation and the impact that technology, communications, the environment and security will have on air transport, tourism and, consequently, on the duty-free and travel-retail industry.

Yellow Door Creative Marketing creative director Mary Porta will follow Armstrong’s presentation with a discussion addressing the event’s central theme ‘Brand the World – Ask for the Moon’, Portas will provide constructive criticism on how retailers and brands can improve on current performance. Portas is a well-known retail and branding expert, and a TV personality in the UK after a recent shop makeover series.
