The cross-channel ferry operator SpeedFerries is taking over Hoverspeed’s old port facilities in Dover, including the duty-free shop
UK-based cross-channel fast ferry operator SpeedFerries will soon be moving into the Hoverport in the Port of Dover.
The site in the Western docks, which includes Hoverspeeds old duty-free shop premises, has been empty since Hoverspeeds closure in November 2005. SpeedFerries will overhaul the entire Hoverport, rebrand it and open new facilities. The company revealed that it will commence operations from the new location, where it has a four-year lease, by Easter.
A company spokesperson revealed: SpeedFerries will be the only Dover-based operator to offer exclusive facilities at both its channel ports Dover and Boulogne. Customers will be able to access the SpeedFerries facilities at the Hoverport by avoiding the heavy traffic in and around the Eastern docks.
"As with the Boulogne port, SpeedFerries will be offering extensive shopping and catering facilities in Dover as well as access to an exclusive SpeedFerries check-in area. The improved operational set-up is the perfect platform for expansion.
